In celebration of Colorado’s 150th anniversary of statehood, Colorado in Pictures invites visitors to explore the people, places, and events that shaped the Centennial State through a collection of historic photographs. Drawing from the archives of History Colorado, the Denver Public Library, and the Library of Congress, the exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into Colorado’s early years and the transformation of the American West.
From the discovery of gold in 1858 and the Pikes Peak Gold Rush to the growth of railroads, farming, ranching, and communities, these images reveal how mining influenced Colorado’s development and the lives of those who called it home. Featuring photographs of everyday life, landscapes, and celebrations, the exhibition highlights a range of experiences and perspectives from across the state.
On view at the PACE Center from October 29 through December 31, 2026, Colorado in Pictures celebrates the stories preserved through photography and invites visitors to reflect on Colorado’s rich history, the people who shaped it, and the stories we continue to share.
Join us at the PACE Center Gallery on Thursday, December 10, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., for the Colorado in Pictures reception. Enjoy light refreshments, a welcoming gallery atmosphere, and a captivating collection of historic photographs that bring Colorado’s past to life.
