Parker Arts Lecture: Weight Loss Medications and What You Should Know

Join us at The Schoolhouse Theater on January 6, 2027 for the FREE lecture Weight Loss Medications: What You Should Know with Jacinda Nicklas, MD, MPH, MA, Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Weight loss medications and GLP-1 treatments have become some of the most talked-about topics in health care today. In this informative and accessible lecture, Dr. Nicklas will explore what these medications are, how they work, and why they’ve gained so much national attention.

Audiences will learn about the latest research surrounding GLP-1 medications and their potential impact beyond weight loss, including heart health, fatty liver disease, sleep apnea, and alcohol use reduction. The presentation will also address common questions and misconceptions, including side effects, compounding and microdosing, muscle mass concerns, and what happens when treatment ends.

Designed to be engaging and easy to understand, this lecture offers a thoughtful look at the science, realities, and future of modern obesity treatment.
