Professional Workshop With Tadashi

Ages: 15+ years
Advanced students will learn the meaning of being an artist through the inspirational and motivational teaching techniques of Tadashi Hayakawa. In this informal and self-motivated open studio, students will break away from formal art instruction and develop critical art appreciation while creating enthusiasm and energy for art expression. Students are encouraged to bring a current work in progress and must supply their own canvas or drawing/painting pads, with all materials including paint, brushes, pallets, etc. Donations made to Tadashi Hayakawa are encouraged. Paint the Landscape in Acrylic - NEW!

Ages: 18+
Beginner/intermediate painters: No sketching required for this six-week course! Perfect for complete beginners, those who have tried acrylics with limited success, or anyone who enjoys painting in a lively and welcoming group atmosphere. Students are supplied with the project sketch to transfer onto their canvas. Each step of the painting is demonstrated, so even novice painters can learn the techniques and complete a finished painting.

Artistry and Composition For Photography

Ages: 16+
This class will help you unleash your artistic potential and learn new ways of seeing your world. Dive deeper into compositional techniques to bring out the beauty and interest in your subjects. With in-class demonstrations, you'll soon learn to take photos that are truly compelling and grab the viewers’ attention! (Please bring your camera and camera instructions to class. Camera is not required the first day of class.)

Beginning Glass Sculpture - NEW!

Ages: 13+
This is a four-hour workshop designed for students who want to learn the art of fused glass. Basic safety, easy beginning glass-cutting techniques, glass layering, and composition will be covered, including basic color theory, transparency and opacity, and design. A fundamental hands-on working knowledge of the medium and equipment will be addressed. The glass will be fired offsite in a glass kiln and then returned to The PACE Center for students to pick up. Students will be provided specialized safety gloves and safety glasses for the workshop, but will be expected to wear closed-toe shoes, and long pants. A steel stand can be purchased separately if desired.

Watercolor Painting Workshop at Reuter-Hess Reservoir

Steve Griggs | Ability: Beginner, Intermediate
Join Steve Griggs for this one-time workshop at Parker’s newly renovated Rueter-Hess Reservoir. Learn how to create lively watercolor paintings with free and generous brush strokes. During this workshop, beginner and intermediate level painters are invited to try out a variety of watercolor painting strategies and techniques to create loose, intuitive, free, and spontaneous effects. You will learn about color mixing, glazes, composition, drying time, thickness, and edges while painting short, warm-up sketches as well as finished landscape or cityscape paintings. This is half-day workshop will be outdoors at Rueter-Hess Reservoir. Pavilion, parking and restrooms are available. Students should bring water. Further instructions will be sent one-week prior to the workshop.
