Bright Futures Student Art Exhibit:
A curated exhibit of juried artwork from the talented high school students of Douglas County who participated in this year’s virtual Portfolio Day on April 9th.
Portfolio Day is an annual professional development opportunity for DCSD high school students interested in continuing their educational and professional career in visual arts. For this exclusive event, students were handpicked by art teachers based on artistic ability and interest in pursuing a career in the arts. This year, students had their portfolios reviewed by university art professors, working artists and peers, and received personalized constructive critiques on their work in a virtual setting.
The culmination of Portfolio Day is manifest in this exhibit. All of the art on display was selected from student portfolios by the attending professors and art professionals.
The Parker Artist Guild awarded $1,000 to Lutheran High School senior Niklas Skirmants for his artwork titled Freddie Gibbs and $1,000 to Douglas County High School senior Bobby Esparza for his artwork titled Hubris. Parker Arts also awarded Douglas County sophomore Savannah Hill the Laura Sierra Honorable Mention and gift card to Guiry’s for her artwork titled Angst.
We hope you enjoy this remarkable glimpse into the bright futures of these truly talented up‐and‐coming artists. Student selections will be on display at the PACE Center April 15th through May 6th.
