Teen Modern

Teen Modern is an advanced dance class that immerses students in the expressive world of contemporary and modern dance. Dancers will explore a variety of modern dance styles, while focusing on improvisation, dynamic movement, and emotional connection to the music. In addition to mastering foundational modern techniques, students will develop their improvisational skills, encouraging freedom of movement and self-expression. The class emphasizes the importance of musicality, allowing dancers to explore how rhythm, phrasing, and breath shape their movements. Through challenging combinations, floor work, and partnering, dancers will refine their technique while also building strength, flexibility, and stamina. It is highly encouraged that dancers also participate in a Technique Level class.

A $40 costume rental fee is required to participate in the end of semester performance and is paid to The Dance Connection the first week of class. Rented costumes must be returned after the performance to avoid additional fees.

Level of Instruction: Advanced

Equipment Needed: Dance attire is required, and lyrical shoes or Foot Undeez are encouraged.

Semester Dates: August 11– December 4
Dress Rehearsals: December 1 & 2
Performances: December 3 & 4
No Class Dates: Sept 1 (Labor Day), Oct 31 (Halloween), Nov 24-29 (Thanksgiving Break)
