On Pointe: Level 1A Ballet & Jazz

Our Level 1 weekly dance class gives our dancers the opportunity to study ballet and jazz in one class setting. Students learn proper technique and alignment and develop strength and endurance. Dance class is an excellent time to develop self-awareness and self-management, and these skills go with the dancer after they leave the studio. A typical class structure includes exercises done at the barre, in center and across the floor. Two $78 costume fees are required to participate in the end of semester performance and are due to On Pointe the first week of class. Dancers will receive one ballet costume and one jazz costume. Students interested in expanding their abilities and talents are encouraged to simultaneously enroll in other Level 1 classes, Kids Lyrical Jazz and/or Kids Hip Hop.

Level of Instruction: Intermediate

Equipment Needed: Students are expected to wear a black dance leotard and pink ballet tights with ballet slippers for the ballet portion of class. Jazz pants or shorts can be layered, and jazz shoes will be changed into for the second half of class. Hair should be pulled away from the face.

Skip Dates: Classes start January 8 and end May 11.  There are no classes held March 18-23 for Spring Break. Dress rehearsals are May 9 and May 10, and performances are May 11 (no regularly scheduled classes held this week).
