Pastel Painting: From Line to Design

Ages: 18+
Take advantage of this chance to explore the soft pastel medium and learn about the artist's view of light in a one-day workshop. Beginning or intermediate students will first experience using pastels to paint with the concepts of light and shadow interacting with a simple subject. The second pastel painting will focus on seeing the play of light on landscape subjects and how it affects our color selections as we paint. There is something in this workshop for all art students--no matter the level of experience.  The Instructor's focus is on helping you learn about pastels, and/or contemplating how to express light as an artist. Students will need a basic set of professional pastels, (Richeson Half-Stick Foundation Pastel Set, Landscape Set), 9” x 12” sanded paper, 9” x 12” support board, and a few household items – masking tape, latex or nitrile gloves, and a package of wet wipes for this class. (Please email instructor two weeks before the class with questions or to purchase a starter pastel kit for $55 at Deena7762@gmail.com). A detailed supply list will be emailed to students after registering for the class.
