Professional Workshop with Tadashi

Ages: 15+ years
Advanced artists will learn to reach their next level, develop critical art appreciation, while creating enthusiasm and energy for art expression with Tadashi Hayakawa. Students are encouraged to bring a current work in progress and must supply their own canvas or drawing/painting pads, with all materials including paint, brushes, pallets, water jar, drop-cloth, etc. Donations made to Tadashi Hayakawa are encouraged. Mixed Media Collage on Canvas

Ages: 14+
Students will learn various mixed media tips and techniques, and complete a 12”x12” canvas collage using paper, fabric, paint, and ink. Students will make some of their own paper and cards. Art or craft experience welcome, but not necessary!

Intro to Outdoor Painting with Oils

Ages: 17+
Discover the joys of painting "en plein air" ! ALL PAINTING MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED! This workshop is for the beginning artist interested in the techniques and equipment needed for painting in the great outdoors. Pack your lunch and supplies and join us for a day of art. Students will need: folding chair, lunch, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, 8x10 sketchbook, soft pencil, and eraser. Materials fee will cover, canvas, paint, brushes, thinner, and paint palette. Please provide your own easel. If you do not have one, limited easels are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Pastel Painting: From Line to Design

Ages: 18+
Take advantage of this chance to explore the soft pastel medium and learn about the artist's view of light in a one-day workshop.  Beginning or intermediate students will first experience using pastels to paint with the concepts of light and shadow interacting with a simple subject.  The second pastel painting will focus on seeing the play of light on landscape subjects and how it affects our color selections as we paint.  There is something in this workshop for all art students--no matter the level of experience.  The Instructor's focus is on helping you learn about pastels, and/or contemplating how to express light as an artist. Students will need a basic set of professional pastels, (Richeson Half-Stick Foundation Pastel Set, Landscape Set), 9” x 12” sanded paper, 9” x 12” support board, and a few household items – masking tape, latex or nitrile gloves, and a package of wet wipes for this class (Please email instructor two weeks before the class with questions or to purchase a starter pastel kit for $55 at  A detailed supply list will be emailed to students after registering for the class.

Dylan’s Down with the Arts Canvas and Cupcakes

Ages: 8+
Join DDWA for a winter themed painting class! Create your own 16”x20” canvas masterpiece of a winter scene and enjoy the cupcakes! No experience necessary. Open to individuals with or without special needs. Volunteers will be available to assist all artists with special needs. All supplies provided.

Beginning Quilting

Ages: 18+
Students will learn the basics of quilting. We will start with tools, fabric choices and block choices. Students will put together four simple blocks that will be sewn together to form a small wall hanging. Students should bring a portable sewing machine and manual, scissors, and thread. A $35 materials fee payable to the instructor is due the first day of class.

Family Tree Quilt

Ages: 18+
Students who know the basics of quilting can enjoy putting together this simple quilt. Student will create a collage with fabric and make a tree. We'll print family photos on the leaves. Assembly to make a 25 inch square-wall-hanging. Student will create a collage with fabric and make a memorial family-tree quilt.

Marketing Muscle for Artists

Ages: 18+
Is your artwork piling up? Don’t know where to start to get it “out there”? Wondering if you're ready to market your work and what options are available? Want to approach galleries? Not sure how to price your work? Want to market via the internet and social media? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this is for you!
Level 1 is for artists just starting to market their work. During this session, we’ll discuss how to communicate about your work and feel comfortable “selling”, how to price your work, how to write a strong artist’s statement and marketing materials and platforms that you’ll need to get started. By the end of this session, you’ll have a great handle on how to proceed to market your artwork effectively.


Level 2 is for artists who have been marketing their art but feel “stuck” or that it is not effective. During this session, we’ll dive more deeply into the “must haves’ to get your work out there and how to manage them. You’ll also learn how to approach galleries and avenues for reaching alternative markets like art consultants, festivals, online galleries and more. In addition, you’ll learn about great resources to help you market, find out about opportunities and stay organized.  You’ll walk away with an action plans and solid understanding of how, where, when and why to market your artwork.
