Alternative Facts: Photography by Any Means
Artist Statement, 2021
I see photography as a medium that is produced and not taken. Each image, whether straight from the camera or extensively manipulated in post-production does not represent the exact truth. An image, at its best honestly, can only be partially true, showing the photographer’s point of view. This statement does not place any value on the level of “truthfulness” of photography; instead, it only acknowledges the “truth” about the nature of photography, a means of communication that bears the creator’s intention.
