The Penrose Heritage Museum: Evolution of Transportation

This lecture will explore the development and evolution of Penrose Heritage Museum in Colorado Springs. First envisioned by Colorado Springs entrepreneur Spencer Penrose and created after his death by his wife, philanthropist Julie Penrose, the museum has grown since 1941 from a small carriage museum to a regional history museum showcasing the full evolution of transportation.

In celebration of the museum’s 80th anniversary in 2021, new exhibits and a reimagined approach to interpretation seek to engage with the community in new ways. Learn about how we manage our collections and how we’re creating new community programming.

Snacks will be served.
