Douglas Muir is currently the Behavioral Health Service Line Director for Porter Adventist Hospital. This position develops, administers and directs strategic and tactical operational activities at Porter Hospital, the South Denver Operating Group while also supporting the broader Centura Health system. The position is also responsible for identifying gaps and barriers and developing processes to increase access and improve outcomes in the communities Centura serves.
Previously Doug served as the Director for the Colorado State Division of Behavioral Health (DBH). This position, in conjunction with the leadership of the Office of Behavioral Health, was responsible for the leadership, administration, and management of DBH including: oversight of statewide behavioral health system programs (prevention, treatment and recovery), DBH research/program evaluation services, behavioral health service quality assurance and standards, departmental fiscal management, and public policy and planning activities.
Before being the Director of DBH, Doug worked as the Director of Community Clinic and Behavioral Health Services at Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center in Denver supporting Behavioral Health for the wider HealthOne System. While at PSL Doug was the lead administrator of Behavioral Health service programs, the High Street Primary Care Clinic, hyperbaric medicine and EEG services.
During his 16 years in Colorado, Doug has been involved in the greater behavioral health community through participation in several community collaborations including currently serving on the Board of Mental Health America of Colorado.
